I get asked constantly which Florida resorts are actually worth the splurge when you’re traveling with kids —not just “kid-friendly” in the sense of a pool and a coloring sheet at check-in, but genuinely built for families to have a good time without anyone (parents included) counting down the minutes. So I pulled together five that keep showing up on my radar, from a lazy-river 30A boutique hotel to Orlando’s only private beach.
Bookmark this one for your next planning session—wink, wink—because they’re definitely at the top of my own list!
Note that a few of these lean upscale (wishlist!), so think of this as your splurge-worthy shortlist, but every single one earns its price tag when it comes to keeping kids busy and parents actually relaxed.

Camp Creek Inn — Watersound, FL (30A)
If you’ve ever wished 30A had a resort that didn’t require choosing between “beach day” and “pool day,” this is it. Camp Creek Inn gives every guest “Member for a Stay” access to Watersound Club, which means a private beach club, multiple pools, and a lazy river with a waterslide, plus tennis, pickleball, and a playground on-site. Kids get their own hangout in the beach club’s game room, and there’s a teen lounge with bean bags and a TV for the older crowd. My favorite detail, though, is the Treat Suite—a stocked snack and ice cream room on every floor, open 24/7, which solves the “I’m hungry” meltdown before it starts. Parents get their own reset at the adults-only pool and hot tub, and the whole thing wraps up with beach bonfires and s’mores at night.

The Don CeSar — St. Pete Beach, FL
The “Pink Palace” has been a St. Pete Beach landmark since 1928, and it’s held onto its Gatsby-era grandeur while still being genuinely set up for families. There’s a Kids Club for the littles, a game room, babysitting services, and two heated pools plus direct beach access on the Gulf. If you want more room to spread out, the Beach House Suites down the beach are all-suite with kitchenettes, a mini soccer field, table tennis, and beach games, and guests there get shuttle access to everything at the main Don CeSar property too. It’s the rare resort that feels equal parts historic and hands-on for kids.
My mom vacationed here with her sisters when I was just a baby (on a too-rare girls trip), and then again when I was old enough to treat them to pedicures during their stay. I, however, have never been! But her love for the pink palace lives on in me, so much so, I dragged my family to walk through the hotel, grab lunch and sneak a quick dip at their pristine beach.

Evermore Orlando Resort — Orlando, FL
Evermore’s whole pitch is that you can get a beach vacation without leaving Orlando, and it delivers: Evermore Bay is a 20-acre private lagoon with zero-entry swim zones, a family waterslide, kayaking, paddleboarding, and even a rope swing and cliff-jump platform at the deeper Blue Hole. There’s a dedicated kids’ club, an arcade, and multi-bedroom villas built with families in mind—think bunk rooms, game rooms, and full kitchens so you’re not eating out for every meal. It sits right next to Walt Disney World, which makes it an easy add-on to a theme park trip or, honestly, reason enough on its own to skip the parks entirely.

JW Marco Island — Marco Island, FL
This one’s a genuine kids’ resort with an adults-only escape hatch built in. The Tiki Tribe Discovery Day Camp keeps kids ages 5–12 busy with crafts and nature exploration, and the Kids’ Splash Zone brings fountains, slides, and a water playground for younger ones. Across the property’s pools, you’ll find a waterfall, slide, and splash pad geared toward little kids, plus mini-golf and an arcade for rainy afternoons. When you’re ready for quiet, the resort has an entire adults-only tower called Sirene, with its own rooftop infinity pool—so everyone in the family gets a version of the vacation they actually want.
Bonus: You can book with Marriott points if you’re a corporate parent that’s drowning in work travel!

The Boca Raton — Boca Raton, FL
Forbes named this one Florida’s best family resort for activities, and once you see the Harborside Pool Club, it’s easy to understand why. It’s got three pools, a 450-foot lazy river, waterslides, a FlowRider wave simulator, and an interactive pirate ship play structure with water cannons for younger kids. The Banyan Bunch Kids Club covers the littles, while The Break is a dedicated hangout for tweens and teens (11–15) with VR gaming, a podcast recording booth, and a candy wall. Add in a golden-sand beach, golf, and a full racquet center, and this is one of those resorts where every age group in your family actually gets their own win.
Note that there are several types of rooms you can book at this resort; I’ve linked up the Beach Club because it has easy ocean access and is close to some of the most family-centric amenities, but you may also want to check out the Tower or Bungalows, too!
